Hmong Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce (HWCC) Commitment to Addressing Equity and Anti-Racism
Milwaukee, Wis., June 7, 2020 – At the Hmong Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce (HWCC), we stand unafraid and ready to address issues of racial and economic inequity where they exist especially as they pertain to disparities in resources and opportunities for historically disadvantaged communities. It is with this mindset that we deplore any type of racial and social injustice like the recent senseless acts of violence that have killed members of the Black community around our country. We stand with our community members who speak up for fairness and positive acts that bring about more respect, unity, and a deeper understanding of each other’s differences. We will continue to do our part by working hard every day to combat systemic bias and discrimination through the work that we do in improving economic opportunities for the historically disadvantaged and underserved.
We pledge to deliberately build partnerships with individuals, businesses, and other organizations that share our vision of working towards justice and equality. We always have and will continue to cultivate a work environment where fairness and respect for racial and other forms of difference are a priority. We believe that as a society, we are stronger when we are intentional about talking to those different from ourselves, including different voices at the table, planning and strategizing together, and ultimately acting as one united community in building a more just society for all.
