Hmong Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce Satellite Office in Wausau Now Open,
Supporting Entrepreneurship in Hmong and Southeast Asian American Communities.
The Hmong Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce (HWCC) invites the community to attend its Wausau Satellite Office Meet and Greet on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 4:00-7:00pm. The event will be held at HWCC’S satellite office located at 1109 6th St., Wausau, on the upper level of the Hmong American Center.
Headquartered in Milwaukee, HWCC is a statewide Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). HWCC now opens its first satellite office in Wausau, home to the second largest concentration of the Hmong community in Wisconsin. "I welcome the Hmong Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce's first regional office to Wausau as a vibrant and important part of our community,” said Mayor Robert B. Mielke.
“We are excited to open our first satellite office in Wausau, and appreciative of the warm welcome from the City of Wausau, fellow economic development and nonprofit organizations, and more importantly, from the community. Our expansion is an added resource to underserved entrepreneurs in the Central Wisconsin region and we look forward to contributing to the economic development successes in this area,” states May yer Thao, Executive Director of HWCC.
“On behalf of the state of Wisconsin, I congratulate HWCC on the opening of its new office, which will enable the organization to more efficiently provide a wide variety of much-needed services to the Hmong community in the region,” said Tricia Braun, deputy secretary of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), which has provided HWCC with financial support since 2011. “Whether it’s working with businesses to secure funding, or providing entrepreneurs with mentorship or training, the chamber is leading the way in giving Hmong businesses the tools they need to succeed.”
HWCC is the sole culturally-competent economic development organization in Wisconsin serving Hmong and Southeast Asian Americans. HWCC provides access to capital and business development support through its business loan programs and one-on-one technical assistance (TA). HWCC also delivers business trainings and hosts networking opportunities.
HWCC thanks WEDC, the US Department of Treasury CDFI and its many other Strategic Partners for continued support of vital HWCC programs.
